關於人類演化的說明圖都會畫著，人本來是從四隻腳在地上爬，然後漸漸立起來，最後變成用兩隻腳行走了。所以從四隻腳走路變成用兩隻腳走路就算是比較厲害比較進步嗎？這大概是為何許多人要把動物訓練成會站起來的原因吧。養狗狗的都會把這當成是很厲害的把戲，當然最極端的應該是馬戲團裡讓大象也站起來的表演了。

動物頻道常有介紹狐蒙的影片，最常見的鏡頭就是他們會站起來眺望遠方，或是大家在睡覺時有人負責站哨，而且是真的是伸長脖子站著。電影「馬達加斯加」裡也有一堆狐蒙站起來唱歌跳舞的片段，唱歌跳舞當然是假的，但他們可是天生就會站，而且還站的超可愛。如果狐蒙不會站，那大概也不會得到這麼多的關注了。

貓幾乎是很少站起來的，也不太可能被訓練，如果當年地球上動物的演化有一些不同，變成貓也可以用兩隻腳走路，空出的雙手還會拿工具，再加上原本的利爪與跳躍能力，那現在地球是被誰統治可就很難說了。
