東歐發現一種隸屬天花和猴痘家族的新型病毒，目前看起來，不像天花和猴痘那麼嚴重。

據報導，2013年，喬治亞共和國有兩個牧場工人出現發燒、淋巴結腫大以及雙手起水痘的症狀，他們在幾個禮拜後復原，後來，衛生單位才知道，牧場主人三年前也有過類似狀況。

喬治亞與美國針對病毒採樣進行的研究，昨天發表在新英格蘭醫學期刊上。美國匹茲堡大學的一位天花權威說，這種病毒可能已經存在很多年，過去沒被發現，看起來，它不足以對公共衛生構成威脅。
