新港奉天宮鬼月前夕封鍾鼓

明天是農曆七月初一日，民間俗稱鬼門關打開，嘉義縣新港奉天宮在每年農曆六月最後一天依循傳統「封鐘鼓」，停止鳴鐘擊鼓，以免被不知情者誤敲，驚嚇來到陽間接受普渡的「先民、好兄弟」。

往常日奉天宮在農曆初一、十五及十四、月底共4天，早晚都會鳴鐘擊鼓以示敬神。今天的「封鐘鼓」儀式先由誦經團以「媽祖經」等經文，祈求眾神為民消災解厄，保佑信徒平安，奉天宮董事長何達煌爬上大鐘封鐘鼓，直到農曆八月初一日上午5時將鐘鼓重新開封。
