Taiwan panel makers make up over 25% of tablet panel market

Taiwan's panel makers are now responsible for over 25% of the global tablet panel market, which is largely due to the makers' orders from white-box tablet vendors, according to market observers.
The makers are providing mostly 7-inch panels to white-box vendors in the China market, where tablets are in high demand and priced as low as US$49.
Shipments for white-box tablets have remained stable, the observers said, adding that Japan- and Korea-based tablet panel vendors' shipments have recently been down. Customers of the Japan- and Korea-based makers include Amazon and Apple.
Tablet panel shipments are expected to reach around 250 million units in 2013, up 60-70% on year, the observers noted.
